Las Vegas area hams are saddened by the news of the passing of Howard Mark K3HM, age 81, of Burnsville, Minnesota. Mark suffered a non-recoverable head injury in a fall last week and succumbed to the effects. Prior to his fall he had been in declining health Read the full story here
A new Reno ham, David Chamberlain W7DSC has been appointed the new Director of Advertising and Marketing for CQ Communications .
Chamberlain, who was first licensed this past summer, enjoys operating digital phone. CQ Communications President Richard Ross, K2MGA, cited Chamberlains 25 years of sales experience and successful track record dealing with Fortune 500 companies as factors in his selection. The Las Vegas Radio Amateur Club has announced that the following officers will lead the group during the upcoming year: President - Jerry Sobel KØMBB, Vice President - Mark Pallans W4MDP, Secretary - Gary Desler AA7YO, and Treasurer - Gerry Wojciechowski K9ADY. The Board of Directors will consist of Marc Zuckerman K7MNZ, Ken McCracken KG7GW, and Keith Lee NØLSL. Northwest Reno has just gotten a brand new shopping spot and amateur radio has gained a very nice venue from which to showcase ham radio, courtesy of the Great Western Marketplace.
