The Boy Scouts of America have released their 2014 report for the Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) held in October.

The report shows an across the board decline in participation by Boy Scout Councils, individual Scouts, and by stations.

Attendance at JOTA took a big jump in 2012 with 18,566 Scouts and visitors.  This was a huge leap from just two  years earlier when only 454 people were a part of the JOTA event.  Since then the number has fallen by more than 5,000 to this years total of 13,326 reported Scouts and visitors. Likewise only 148 Boy Scout Councils were active this year, down from 173 last year.

National JOTA Coordinator Jim Wilson K5ND states that 354 stations had registered this year, but only 205 submitted operating reports.  This makes it difficult for organizers to have an accurate picture of exactly how many stations and scouts were really involved.

Despite this decline across the nation, Jamboree operations in Nevada seem to have hit their stride.  Locations in Elko, Reno, Las Vegas, and elsewhere in the state saw an overflow of Scouts, parents, and hams enjoying this years JOTA experience.
