ARRL Mentor Award given by soar
In a surprise ceremony held at the recent "Hams On The Hill" Field Day event. Members of the Sisterhood Of Amateur Radio (SOAR) presented the ARRL Elmer Award for Mentoring to John Bigley-N7UR of Las Vegas.
The award was presented on the exact spot where SOAR was founded. It has been 5 years since Bigley encouraged a group of ladies sitting in the cool shade of the pine trees on Las Vegas' Mt. Charleston to form their own organization.
Bigley has taught classes, held built-it parties, published the website and newsletter, created the membership materials, fixed radios, and much more for the club.
With his help the group has grown to be an international organization with National Sisters across North America and International Sisters around the world. SOAR Website here.
