More Ham Radio Growth Seen In Eastern Nevada
Hams in the Eastern Nevada rural counties of Lincoln and White Pine continue to grow their organizations and infra-structure. Both counties now have their own amateur radio clubs and ARES groups. The Eastern Nevada Amateur Radio Society (ENARS), based in Ely and the Great Basin Amateur Radio Club in Pioche are busy making ham radio a part of their communities.
On the ARES side of things, White Pine County EC Les Robison N7GWT and Lincoln County EC Lee Hone K7NKH both report growth in their organizations. Robison also reports that White Pine County ARES and ENARS have jointly erected a new repeater on Squaw Peak, just north of Ely.
The new 2 meter machine covers Ely and the Steptoe Valley. Located at 146.88 MHz, positive offset and with a PL tone of 114.8 the repeater is linked to repeaters on Kimberly Peak (147.180 MHz), Warm Springs (146.850 MHz), and Highland Peak(145.220 MHz).
ENARS and White Pine County ARES also have a co-sponsored net at 7:00 PM each Friday evening.
