Are You Ready To Hunt Lions?
Have you ever given a thought to "lion hunting"? Well the Lions are hoping that you do. In fact Lions all over the world are just waiting to be picked off.
Now before you dig your Grandfathers old WWI carbine out of the attic and book passage on a tramp steamer you should know that all you need will be an amateur radio station.
Lions, Lionesses, and Leo's (youth), all members of Lions International, the worlds largest service club, are looking to make contacts with other Lions and non-Lions during the 44th annual "Hunting Lions In The Air" event next weekend, January 10th and 11th.

These dates are picked because they coincide with the weekend closest to the birthday of Lions International founder Melvin Jones. Mr. Jones, a Chicago insurance man, was born January 13th, 1879.
Jones formed the Lions club in 1917 as a way to get professional men to look beyond their financial interests and strive to serve their community.
Lions, Lionesses, and Leo's (youth) worldwide are looking to make contacts with other Lions and non-Lion Amateurs during the upcoming event.
Today. there are more than 46,000 local Lions clubs and 1.35 million active members, located in 200 countries. Lions club members are known primarily for their work in preserving vision and the prevention of blindness. They took on this task following a 1925 speech by Helen Keller at their National Convention.
The motto of Lions International is: "We Serve." Lions Clubs support many causes and a current project sees them pledging to help eliminate hunger in the world. They expect to save 25 million people from hunger this year.
The "Hunting Lions In The Air" program asks their members to team up with an amateur radio station and contact as many Lions and non-Lions via the airwaves as they can. (Editors Note: This event is extremely popular with the African nations, typically among the rarest stations heard in Nevada...great chance to snag that QSO from the "dark continent".)
Nevada has 46 Chapters of Lions International. There are chapters in virtually every Nevada town. To help a Lion get on the air this weekend contact a Chapter near you.
