To say that Morse Code has always played a part in the history of the State of Nevada is an understatement. The history of this state began with Morse Code.
Nevada entered the union following the sending of the states entire constitution to Washington via Morse Code in 1864. This message set the record as the longest telegraph message
ever sent. That record remains still to this day.
In celebration of Nevada's Sesquicentennial, the Sierra Nevada Amateur Radio Society will recreate the sending of Nevada's Constitution. The re-enactment has been designated as a "Signature Nevada 150" event by the State of Nevada.

There will be a landline telegraph demo using early telegraph keys and landline sounders to resend parts of the Nevada Constitution via this historical, and now unused, means. Visitors are also welcome to try their hand at sending some of the Constitution.
Posters about telegraphy and how it helped Nevada gain statehood, and a very unique OMNIGRAPH, an early Morse training machine, will be on display.
SNARS will be showing off their brand new pop-up tent emblazoned with their logo.
Besides trying out telegraphy, visitors will be able to tour the Washoe County EMCOMM truck, and sit in on operating the special event station.
